Dr. Joshua M. Brown

... is a licensed psychologist in the state of Nebraska. He received his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and Master of Science degrees in Counseling Psychology from the University of Kansas, and Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies from Metropolitan State College of Denver. He spent most of his career prior to opening Common Threads Therapy, LLC as a Staff Psychologist for the Department of Veterans Affairs. He is also an adjunct professor for the Department of Psychology at Creighton University and a U.S. military Veteran.

Through Dr. Brown's doctoral training and studies, he learned many different therapeutic techniques and theoretical backgrounds. He believes each person has unique differences so therapeutic interventions are individualized.

Dr. Brown's clinical focus is counseling individual adults and couples in the following areas:​

  • Relationship issues (new, strained, separation, divorce, parenting)

Dr. Rebecca Henning

... is a licensed psychologist in the state of Nebraska. She earned her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Clinical Psychology and Masters of Science in Clinical Psychology degrees from West Virginia University. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, with distinction, from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Honors Program.

Following completion of a clinical internship and postdoctoral fellowship with the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, Dr. Henning worked as a staff psychologist for the Department of Veterans Affairs. She has published professionally in the areas of health psychology, multicultural psychology, and clinical geropsychology.

Dr. Henning has training in a variety of therapeutic approaches and therapy interventions are tailored to account for individual differences and client needs.

Dr. Henning provides treatment to individual adults and couples in the following areas:

Alma L Ramos-Gilbert

LCSW, MSW

... completed her Bachelors of Science degree with a double major in Communication and Spanish from Eastern CT State University. She went on to do a Summer Study aboard in Spain, enriching further her native language skills. Alma received her

Master’s Degree in Social Work from Columbia University School of Social Work in New York City. Alma has over 25 years experience working with children and families in many areas including mental health clinics, hospitals, community based organizations and schools. Alma serves children, adolescents, adults, families, couples, and groups. In April of 2019, Alma was awarded by the Sherwood Foundation in Omaha, the Dolores Huerta Catalyst Award. This award is given to rising and selective Latina women in the Omaha metro area making a difference in their professional careers in the community. As a result of this award, and due to her personal experience caring for her mother with cancer until her passing, Alma has chosen to use her award to further her growth via professional development and conferences to educate others on holistic and complimentary cancer therapies, aiding the caregivers through their own journeys, and educating doctors and other health professionals on the journey that one experiences when affected by cancer. Alma has been providing services in the school systems since 2007 both in New York City and Nebraska. She was recently nominated to be part of the crisis response team in the Omaha Public School systems as a frontline responder shall a crisis occur in the schools. Alma is also a proud mother of two children. In her line of work, Alma uses an eclectic approach to reaching clients in therapy in addition to the incorporation foundations of psychology via Freud and other theorists.

Stepfanie Rainge

MSW, LADC

...is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor in the state of Nebraska. She earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Peru State.

Stepfanie has extensive experience with military Veterans and formerly worked with adolescents and adults in the criminal justice system providing psychotherapy services in the Outpatient and Intensive

Outpatient Program. Stepfanie has a passion for meeting individuals where they are at and working with them to better themselves and improve self-efficacy. Stepfanie is trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches and tailors interventions to account for individual differences and needs.

Jennifer M. Cherney

...is a practicum student/counseling trainee at Common Threads Therapy. She expects to earn her Master of Science in Clinical Counseling from Bellevue University in August 2020, and received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with distinction, from Excelsior College in Albany, New York.

Jennifer gained valuable skills working with children and adolescents in her roles as a Behavioral Health Tech at the Boys Town Residential Treatment Facility and as a Case Manager within the Nebraska child welfare system. Jennifer is also a U.S. military Veteran.
